Rocky Patel Visits Cigars and More in Hoover, Alabama
Rocky Patel visited Birmingham, Alabama on Thursday July 23 at Cigars and More in Hoover, Alabama. Southern Cigar Lifestyle Magazine was there to cover the event.

I have to admit that I do not think that the staff of the shop was expecting such a huge turnout. I am guessing that somewhere between 120 and 150 people showed up. There was a line at the register from customer’s purchasing cigars.
I got to spend a few minutes with Rocky and was very impressed by his professionalism and at the same time he was extremely personable. The crowd was too large to spend much time with any particular people, but he still took as much time as possible for talking cigars, posing for pictures and signing autographs.
At the end of the evening Rocky spoke to the group as a whole and spoke highly of his visit to Alabama. He also spoke about growing tobacco, the blending process to describe how much labor goes into hand rolled cigars. My favorite part was at the end where he gave a huge push for customers go join the Cigar Rights of America. He told a few stories of the legislation that is going on all over the country to prohibit our freedom to enjoy our cigars. We need to be proactive and join for the annual cost of 4 or 5 of our favorite cigars.

Rocky Patel and staff and fans of Southern Cigar Lifestyle Magazine.
All in all it was a great night for the Cigars and More, Rocky Patel and Southern Cigar Lifestyle Magazine. I have had mixed results (as far as my preferences are concerned) with the Rocky Patel seasonal blends, but I have become a HUGE fan of the 2009 Summer Blend. Great medium bodied cigar with a bit of a peppery spice to the smoke. I have always been a fan of the Edge and the Rocky Patel Sungrown.

Southern Cigar Lifestyle Magazine got some great pictures for an upcoming cover story on Rocky. I arranged to do an interview at IPCPR in New Orleans the second week of August. I look forward to spending some time with him.
